When I heard we were going to participate in a “Fasting and Praying Experience” my first thought was ... I've never done this and I'm not sure I can!
Leighann, (whose idea this was) even confesses, “Fasting is never easy. I’m hungry, my head hurts, and if I’m honest, going without food makes me grumpy.”
However, fasting really is the feast that frees. One writer explained the power of fasting like this,
“There are things that God desires to happen in our lives and ministry that won’t happen unless we fast. Fasting breaks strongholds, liberates people, and moves us into a realm of realizing God’s power in our lives. The more time you’re spending with God, the more you’re going to see the hand of God on your life in an extraordinary way. Like the disciples, there are things that God wills for us to do that we will not have the power to bring about unless we have spent time with Him.” (read more at The Call to Fast)
The benefits of fasting far outweigh the discomforts; and God releases incredible blessings on you and our church when we fast.
We are inviting you to join us, the Pastors. How (and if) you participate is between you and God. Click Here for the Prayer Guide for Fasting and Praying we used during our fast earlier in January. This will be helpful for you as you go through your fast.
