Day 12: God communicates with us through other people

READ IT
I Peter 4:10-11
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.”

TAKE IT TO HEART
Jesus chose 12 men to become His disciples. (He traveled with several women too.) In community with this group of people, Jesus established His Church. Today the people who follow God continue to live in community with each other. They grow in their understanding of God, they work together to fulfill the purposes of God, and together they hear and share the word of God.

You might already know this, but your spiritual adventure will be incredibly impacted by the people you travel with—and you often hear the voice of God together.

It is always a good idea to invite people you trust to pray with you and to counsel with you when you are seeking to hear God’s voice. But don't depend on their voices alone. Be sure to take whatever advice or "word" that other people give you and discuss it with the LORD one on one. You will also want to invite God to confirm that "word" with His Word (the Bible).

Until God confirms their words, do with them what my dear friend and prayer warrior told me to do with the "words" he gave me: "Put it on the back burner and wait to see what God says."

It's not that hard to hear God's voice, especially when you obey what you know He wants you to do, and you surround yourself with others who are listening to His voice as well.

PRAY FOR THESE THINGS TODAY:
  • Lord, who can I trust to pray with me when I’m are under a heavy load? Thank God for that person and let them know how much you appreciate them (today).
  • If you are not in a small group, pray this: Lord, which group is the right group for me/us? Once you find the group God leads you to, participate with your group so that you can cultivate relationships you can trust. If you are in a group, thank God for that group and for the friendships you’ve built there.
  • So much is going on in the world today. Remember, God is on His throne, and nothing surprises Him. Lord, how can my family participate in Your global agenda this coming year? Check out our mission trip opportunities and ask God which one He wants you to prayerfully consider. https://tsclife.org/global-missions
