Day 18: praying the promises
READ IT
John 16:23-24
“In that day you will not ask me anything. Truly I tell you, anything you ask the Father in my name, he will give you. Until now you have asked for nothing in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete."
TAKE IT TO HEART
Imagine you have an audience with the CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai, and you want to ask him to give you a million dollars for a start-up business idea.
First of all, how on earth do you schedule an appointment with him? What hoops would you have to jump through to get 10 minutes of his time? Secondly, what on earth would make you think that he would have even the slightest bit interested in your business idea? And third, what right do you have to think that a mere million dollars of his vast wealth might be designated to you?
And yet, if, by chance you are good friends with Sundar’s 17 year old son, Kiran, and your business venture was created in the wee hours of the morning when you and Kiran were dreaming and scheming; and together the two of you went to his father and humbly requested that he invest in your idea, what do you think would happen then?
This is the kind of relationship (and offer) Jesus is making to us in these verses. He’s telling us that His partnership with us is so complete that we have full access to His Father and His Father’s vast resources.

PRAY FOR THESE THINGS TODAY:
- What is your anything? Go ahead, ask God for it!
- On Sunday we will be reaching people who might not attend church on a regular basis. Ask God to prepare the hearts of TSC members so that we can interact with our neighbors in a way that reflects the love of Jesus.
- Mapleridge Ranch has one mission, to impact lives and point people to Jesus. This summer we are sending a group of camp-loving people to upper state NY to serve at Mapleridge Ranch and help fulfill this mission. Check out this mission trip opportunity here. Ask God what you can do to partner with this part of His kingdom work.
