Day 20: Gives what he has promised to give

READ IT
Psalm 145:13-16
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does. The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time. You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

TAKE IT TO HEART
When we present our requests to God, then find a promise He’s given us that relates to our request, we can be certain that God will give us what He has promised to give. Here’s how to do it:

Present your request to God (don’t try to make it sound all pious and holy–He knows how you really feel so the best way is just to be transparent and direct). Then, ask God to show you a promise from His Word. Take that promise, print it on a piece of paper or an index card and pray it back to God. Something like this:

LORD, You’ve said in your word (read the promise) and I am standing on this promise fully expecting You to keep it in this situation. Thank You LORD for being faithful and true to Your Word.

God loves it when we take His Word to heart and hold Him to it. He may take longer than we want Him to take to answer our prayers, but He will keep His promises and you will know when He does.

PRAY FOR THESE THINGS TODAY:
  • What promises are you needing to withdraw from the “bank” of Scripture? There’s no penalty for making multiple withdrawals.
  • We know that God is for this Sunday’s outreach event because He said that it’s not His will that any should perish but that all should come to eternal life. (2 Peter 3:9) Use this promise to pray over every aspect of ATM this weekend.
  • On Thursday, October 31, we will celebrate Halloween. Did you know that more candy is sold at Halloween than any other holiday? This is also a great time to be present with your neighbors and watch for opportunities to share the love of Jesus. Ask God to tell you now how you and your family can honor Jesus on October 31.
