I’m about to share something I want you to reread a few times until the AWE of it settles in your soul: “Today, there is no Jewish temple in Jerusalem, and the animal sacrifices have ceased. The believer in Christ has become the inner sanctum of God the Holy Spirit, as the believer has been sanctified and forgiven by the blood of Jesus Christ. The believer in Christ becomes the habitation of the Holy Spirit of God.”

I John 4:15 “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him and he in God.”

PRAY: We lose the wonder of this miracle when we miss how holy the Holy of Holies truly was. In the jewish temple, the Holy of Holies was where the presence of God dwelt. It was a sacred place that was only entered once a year at Yom Kippur. At that time the high priest replaced his robe with white linen, then lifted the veil, and approached the mercy seat with trepidation. There he presented a sacrifice to atone for his sins and the sins of the people. Then God received the sacrifice, forgave their sins, and the people rejoiced. The Spirit that dwelt on the mercy seat is the Spirit that dwells in you. For prayer today, reflect on this truth and invite the Spirit of our Living God to fall fresh on you.
