Day 29: restore unto me
David was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22). He’s the only biblical person who’s described this way. And it’s certainly not because he lived a perfect life, obeying all of God’s rules impressing Him with his excellent track record. David’s life was filled with mistakes–some heinous! And yet, he’s called “a man after God’s own heart.”
Why? Because David always returned to God in humility and repentance. He recognized his desperate need for God, and when he strayed, he prayed:
Psalm 51:12–Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. (KJV)
PRAY: Our relationship with God is one of love. If you find that you’ve drifted away from a deep passion for God–do what the “man after God’s own heart” did and ask Him to restore that passion.
