Day 38: do you love me?

Now for our Scripture. One of the sweetest, love-saturated conversations we get to hear is the one between Jesus and Peter when he cooked his breakfast over a charcoal fire.' John 21:15-17–“When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love[i] Me more than these?” Yes, Lord,” he said to Him, “You know that I love You.” “Feed My lambs,” He told him. A second time He asked him, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” “Yes, Lord,” he said to Him, “You know that I love You.” “Shepherd My sheep,” He told him. He asked him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved that He asked him the third time, “Do you love Me?” He said, “Lord, You know everything! You know that I love You.” “Feed My sheep,” Jesus said.

PRAY: I love this passage so much because it shows me that no matter how far you’ve strayed, what you did while you were straying, and how much you regret it–Jesus is eager to re-enlist you in a place of leadership. And leadership in the kingdom of God is simply “feeding the sheep.” Listen to what Jesus is asking you. Respond to him.
