Day 5: The Mission Continues

READ IT
Ephesians 6:21-24
21 Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing. 22 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you.
23 Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.

TAKE IT TO HEART
From Mission: Impossible to Mission:Possible

In the final verses of Ephesians 6, Paul writes, "Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing. I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you." (Ephesians 6:21-22, NIV)

At first glance, these verses may seem like simple greetings and farewells, but they carry a powerful message about God’s mission for us. Paul, in prison, faced what many would consider an "impossible" mission: to spread the Gospel despite chains and suffering. But Paul didn’t see his circumstances as roadblocks; he saw them as opportunities. For Paul, what seemed like an impossible mission was, in fact, possible through faith and perseverance in God's plan.

Paul sent Tychicus to encourage the believers in Ephesus, showing that even in adversity, the mission of God continues. This is where we see the shift from "Mission: Impossible" to "Mission: Possible." No circumstance, no obstacle, not even prison walls could stop the spread of the Gospel. Paul’s chains didn’t bind God’s Word, and the mission continued through faithful servants like Tychicus.

In our own lives, we often face "impossible" missions—circumstances that seem too difficult to overcome. But Ephesians 6 reminds us that, like Paul, we are not called to accomplish God’s mission by our own strength. God empowers us, just as He empowered Paul and Tychicus, to carry out His purpose.

The key is faithfulness. Paul remained faithful in his chains, and Tychicus was faithful in delivering Paul’s message. When we trust in God’s strength, what seems impossible becomes possible.

As Paul concludes in Ephesians 6:23-24, "Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love." This peace, love, and grace are what enable us to turn our impossible missions into possible ones.

In closing out this study of Ephesians, Paul ends it with spreading the Gospel.  That is our mission as well, and it is very possible.  Do you know Thompson Station Church does mission work in our streets, state, and across the seas?  Are you interested in being a part of one of those mission teams?  Check out our missions site at https://tsclife.org/missions.  Find out how you can help spread the Gospel of Christ anywhere around the globe.
